Job Description

The Creative Director of Retail marketing oversees operations of Print, Digital and Copy creatives dedicated to the design development and execution of all retail-oriented creative for GNC. This includes all vertically oriented promotional advertising and campaign needs for in-store signage, events, CRM Marketing/direct mail, collateral, digital ads, emails, website, event marketing and any related advertising. This role is responsible for driving visual design direction and communicating design goals to print and digital creative teams and production artists; Lead any studio or location photography needs and ensure integration throughout all channels of a campaign. This role collaborates with various areas of marketing, vendors and business partners to oversee the development and production of all retail marketing collateral that supports company goals, is within budget and to specifications.

Qualifications

  • Oversees development of top line creative concepts for all GNC retail/promo campaigns and projects as specified in briefs provided by various business partners (or Planning teams.)

  • Maintains a solid reporting line to VP of Creative and other senior leadership. Provides support and clear communication to the senior team on current initiatives, while ensuring work is creatively outstanding -yet meets all proposed objectives.

  • Manages all projects to a specific retail-creative operating budget, and provides input upfront to help determine those allocations.

  • Initiates high level brainstorming / retail campaign development sessions. Provides oversight during concept phases to ensure ideas integrate and translate within digital, print, social, broadcast and all traditional and non-traditional media. Acts as the creative catalyst for the brand, driving the expression of the brand in all marketing channels

  • Directs the execution of creative retail campaigns in print and digital media (display, web and social) for our stores, websites and social channels. Partner with Project Managers, Merchants, other Creative Team members and Agencies to optimize outputs. This includes Messaging, conceptual design, typography, layout, photography.

  • Leads and collaborates with outside agency or freelance creative resources for outside concept development as required.

  • Reviews all final creative pieces and ensures quality, efficiency and accuracy.

  • Supports usage, updating and maintenance of Brand Guidelines

  • Ensures all other creative teams are informed of project status and proactively communicates any challenge that puts a project at risk. Coordinates with other teams to ensure optimal and efficient workflow for the creative team.

  • Prioritizes and selects appropriate resources for all creative assignments (both internal resources, i.e., designers and external vendors, i.e., printers, coders, photographers)

  • Recruit, train, develop, retain and manage the creative to ensure effective and efficient operation of materials development and implementation.

  • Define roles and responsibilities of all Creative print, digital and copy personnel in order to consistently produce all levels of creative work.

  • Recognize and leverage successful methods and technologies to support the creative process. Maintain that workflow system to increases work volume and production speed without compromising quality or innovation.

  • Stays on top of all trends and innovations in retail marketing in order to keep the creative team inspired and in-the-know.

  • Support photo shoot planning and execution with other members of the team and outside partners.

  • Additional duties as assigned.
